STEP 14 - GRILLED SWEET CORN

broken image

For many, one absolute must for grilling is SWEET CORN! With its crisp texture and sweet flavor, corn is the perfect complement to your cookout.

There are dozens of varieties of sweet corn available from local farmers, farmer’s markets, organic food cooperatives, and even your local grocery store, so you’ll have plenty of options when choosing; but the important point is that preparing corn doesn’t mean boiling it! You can grill your corn; and adding Essential Oils to the grilling process puts a whole new spin on an old favorite!

SAVORY SUMMER GRILLED CORN ON THE COB RECIPE

(Corn must be soaked in cold water for at least one to two hours prior to prep and grilling.)

• 1/2 c. melted Butter

• 3 tbsp. freshly chopped Chives

• 1 tbsp. Sugar

• 3 drops Lemon Essential Oil

• 1–2 drops Black Pepper Essential Oil

Combine ingredients in a small glass bowl and set aside. After the corn has soaked in cold water for one to two hours, peel back husks to about an inch from the bottom and remove all silk, but do not remove the husks. Now take your mixture and brush over the corn and rewrap with the husks securing the end with kitchen or cooking string. Grill the corn uncovered over medium heat for 30–45 minutes, turning every 10 minutes to avoid burning or scorching of the husks.

QUESTION – HAVE YOU EVER GRILLED SWEET CORN BEFORE? WHAT DID YOU DO TO PREPARE IT BEFORE GRILLING?
